Liverpool will be stiff opponents for Manchester City
Manchester City faces Liverpool for the second time in less than a week on Wednesday night, after the Citizens overcame the Reds to win the Capital One Cup on penalties. Now Manuel Pellegrini’s side face a trip to Anfield, which most football predictions suggest will be a difficult one.
City have a poor record at Anfield and Liverpool have already beaten the side from Manchester 4-1 in the reverse fixture. The fact that the Citizens needed penalties to beat the inconsistent Reds in the League Cup will be of great concern to everybody associated with City.
Liverpool will be gunning for revenge against the Citizens on Wednesday night and no doubt the Anfield faithful will be in full voice for what is a must-win game for the visitors.
City are already nine points behind Premier League leaders Leicester in the race for the title and could kick-off this game 12 points behind Leicester with the Foxes facing West Brom at home on Tuesday night.
Pellegrini’s side must muster all the mental and physical strength for this clash, as this could be a pivotal game for the Citizens. If City fails to pick-up a win on Merseyside then they will seemingly be out of the title race with just ten Premier League games left.
Liverpool have proven once in recent times that they can be equal to the Citizens in that Capital One Cup final. Those of the City persuasion will be hoping that their team can emerge with three very valuable points on Wednesday night.
