Wolves came from two goals down to beat Manchester City at Molineux in what will surely go down as one of the games of the season.
City goalkeeper Ederson was sent off after just 12 minutes. The Brazilian raced out of his penalty area and brought down Diogo Jota – leaving referee Martin Atkinson with little choice but to show him a straight red card.
However, the visitors were awarded a penalty midway through the first half. When Riyad Mahrez went to ground, the on-field referee originally pointed for a goal kick. But the video assistant referee overturned the decision after spotting a foul by Leander Dendoncker.
Rui Patricio saved Raheem Sterling’s spot-kick, but VAR intervened once again. Replays showed players encroaching into the penalty area before the penalty was taken.
Remarkably, Rui Patricio saved the retaken penalty, but Sterling was on hand to tap in the rebound.
Sterling then made it 2-0 just after half time when he latched on to Kevin de Bruyne’s through ball and lifted the ball over Rui Patricio.
Five minutes later, Adama Traore pulled one back for the home side with a powerful low drive from the edge of the penalty area.
Traore then assisted Raul Jimenez for Wolves’ equaliser, before Matt Doherty turned the game of its head with a fantastic run and finish.
Sterling had a chance to rescue a point for City in the dying seconds, but his late free-kick struck the crossbar.

Man City’s 38% possession is the lowest figure recorded by a team managed by Pep Guardiola in any top-flight game. The early red card undoubtedly contributed to this statistic.
As the numbers suggest, Wolves had numerous chances. The majority of the host’s shots came in the second half as 10-man City began to tire.
Man of the Match: Adama Traore (Wolverhampton Wanderers)
There were a number of standout performers for Wolves, but Adama Traore produced a memorable display.
The speedy Spaniard has now scored three goals against Man City this season, after netting a brace at the Etihad earlier in the campaign.
As well as scoring and assisting, Traore completed ten of his 11 take-ons and also produced nine crosses.
