An Emotional Afternoon at the King Power Stadium

An Emotional Afternoon at the King Power Stadium

On Saturday Leicester City will play their first home match since the tragic helicopter crash which killed five people, including the club owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.  The players and fans are sure to be feeling many emotions and the team will be determined to pick up the win.

The Foxes will play Burnley, who start the weekend in the bottom half of the table.  The Clarets need to start picking up points or they could become embroiled in a relegation battle this season.  Just 2 points separate Burnley and the relegation zone.  If they fail to get anything from this game, they could slip into the bottom three.

Leicester City performed superbly in very testing circumstances last weekend to pick up a 1-0 win against Cardiff City.  The players did themselves and the club proud as they recorded a win in memory of the people who lost their lives.

Having been held to a 1-1 draw against West Ham United, who played over half the game with ten men, the win at Cardiff was a big boost to Leicester City ahead of this match.  The Foxes had gone three games without a win following defeats against Everton and Arsenal.

The home fans will be hoping Leicester City can find some good form as trends show they have won only one of their last four Premier League matches on home soil. There have been defeats against Liverpool and Everton, a draw with West Ham and win over Huddersfield Town.

Both teams have scored in nine of Leicester City’s last twelve home Premier League games.

Burnley travel to the King Power Stadium hoping to halt a run of results which has seen them lose three straight games in the Premier League. The defeats have come at Manchester City, at West Ham United and at home to Chelsea.  Prior to the defeat at Manchester City, Burnley were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Huddersfield Town, meaning they have failed to win in their last four matches.

You must go back to the end of September to find the last time Burnley won a Premier League game and that was at Cardiff City.  However, their poor form goes back much further and trends show Burnley have won just two of their last twenty games in all competitions, which is a very worrying statistic for the fans.

Team news and Leicester City are monitoring the fitness of Harry Maguire, who picked up a knee injury last week and may not be risked while James Maddison will miss the game.  Other than Maguire and Maddison, Claude Puel is unlikely to make any changes to the team which started at Cardiff.

Burnley are without Nick Pope, Stephen Ward, Phil Bardsley, Ben Gibson and James Tarkowski.  Sean Dyche could bring in Robbie Brady, Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes to freshen up the team.

Leicester City should have enough quality in their team, even with the potential absence of Maguire, to win this match.  Keeping clean sheets at home has been problematic for the Foxes but they should score the goals to seal maximum points.
