Everton and Bournemouth look to end winless runs

Everton host Bournemouth on Sunday as both clubs look to end their recent winless runs. Manager Marco Silva has watched his Everton lose four of their last five matches. The Toffees have been outscored 12-8 during that run.

However, that figure is obscured due to a 5-1 win over Burnley away. The Toffees’ last two matches in the Premier League have both ended in losses. Brighton and Leicester were victorious against Everton and held them to clean sheets.

Bournemouth have been in a funk as well. Eddie Howe’s team has lost eight of their last 11 matches. Only two games have ended in victories. Bournemouth’s most recent Premier League fixture against Watford ended 3-3 thanks to some generous decision-making by the match referee. Bournemouth had to comeback twice to draw the match.

Their previous meeting this season ended in a 2-2 draw. Bournemouth were in great form at the time, having won their two previous matches. Howe’s Cherries are far from the form they showed in the third week of the Premier League season, however. Their previous match was also significant for its two red cards. Bournemouth’s Adam Smith and Everton’s Richarlison were both sent off.

Five of the last six meetings between Everton and Bournemouth have ended with three or more goals. Bournemouth matches have seen goals scored this term as there have been over 2.5 goals scored in 10 of their last 12 league games. Due to the amount of goals and the red cards shown to players in recent meetings, Everton versus Bournemouth has become one of the most exciting fixtures in the Premier League.

Bournemouth have obtained just nine of 30 points possible away from home. All five of Bournemouth’s last five away fixtures have ended in defeat. The Cherries have given up 16 goals during that time span. Bournemouth have scored just three goals during their away losing streak. The Cherries are –11 in goal difference.

Everton have secured 18 of 33 points possible at Goodison Park this year. While their away form has been lacking, Everton have been better at home. They have registered a +2-goal different.

Their first meeting was explosive and fans should expect another match with goals. Everton are the better team as Bournemouth have slumped badly since early November. Sunday’s fixture will see another goal-fest with over 2.5 goals and both teams will get on the score sheet. Everton will take all three point with a win, inflicting another loss on Bournemouth.
