After firing Sporting to the Liga Portugal title, Viktor Gyokeres looks set to be a transfer target for numerous high-profile clubs when the forthcoming window opens.

Gyokeres left Championship side Coventry City last summer, with Sporting paying a club record fee of €20 million for the Swedish striker.

During his debut season in Portugal, the 25-year-old has racked up 41 goals and 15 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions.

Gyokeres has netted 27 goals in 31 Liga Portugal games for the Lions, putting him six goals clear of Braga’s Simon Banza in the scoring charts.

Thanks largely to Gyokeres’ exploits, Sporting have wrapped up only their second top-flight title since 2002, making light work of rivals Benfica and Porto.

Naturally, Gyokeres has become one of the hottest properties in European football, with many of the continent’s elite clubs reportedly interested in his signature.

After winning the Liga Portugal title, the striker said: “It’s football, I can’t promise anything. I have a contract and I won’t be sad if I stay. I’m very happy, but we’ll see what happens.”

With speculation regarding his future continuing to circulate, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Gyokeres secured a Premier League move this summer.

It is no secret that Arsenal have been on the hunt for a top-class striker, with Mikel Arteta preferring Kai Havertz to Gabriel Jesus in recent months.

The Gunners would certainly benefit from an out-and-out goalscorer like Gyokeres, with many believing that a genuine No. 9 is the missing puzzle piece for Arteta.

If their recent spending is anything go by, Chelsea could also make a move for Gyokeres as Mauricio Pochettino aims to find a winning formula.

With question marks over the future of Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez, Liverpool may also be in the running for the Swede’s signature this summer.

Gyokeres moved from IF Brommapojkarna to Brighton & Hove Albion in 2018 but failed to make a league appearance for the Seagulls before joining Coventry in 2021.

Since then, the Stockholm native has gained a reputation as one of the most prolific strikers in European football.

Sporting still have three matches to play this season, including the Taca de Portugal final against Porto, so Gyokeres will likely add to his tally before the campaign ends.

Having enjoyed a remarkable season in Portugal, Gyokeres looks destined for a high-profile Premier League move this summer.
