PSG Looking to Return to the Top of Ligue 1 Against Montpellier

Paris Saint-Germain are aiming for top spot in Ligue 1 for the first time this season after a dodgy start from the French champions ahead of them playing hosts to Montpellier in the capital on Friday night.
Despite the poor form to start the season that saw PSG rack up only two wins in the first five matches, the giants of France have finally found their feet in Ligue 1 and in Europe.
Within the past week, they have managed to defeat AC Milan before heading to Brest and winning 3-2.
Kylian Mbappe got yet another Champions League goal that day against Milan before Randal Kolo Muani scored in the second half, as Lee Kang-in bagged a goal in the 89th minute of the game.
Against Brest, Warren Zaire-Emery scored the game's opening goal before another Mbappe brace that brought him onto 10 Ligue 1 goals already this season from just nine games, plus one assist.
Mbappe also scored from the penalty spot in the 3-0 win over Strasbourg, before finishes from Carlos Soler and Fabian Ruiz.
The Ligue 1 champions have also beaten Rennes in the past few weeks with goals from Vitinha, Achraf Hakimi and Kolo Muani to now put them on a five-game winning run since that dreadful display against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.
It does, however, put the club in second and behind Nice by one point with one win and three further draws on their board.
They have, however, put together the best goalscoring record this season with 23 goals scored from 10 matches.
As for Montpellier, it’s been another underwhelming start to the season for them after winning three, drawing three and losing three from nine matches.
This does, however, give the club down in 11th a game in hand to boast of, and this can now rocket them to as high as seventh if other results go their way over time.
Montpellier got back to winning ways over the weekend when they eased to a 3-0 win over Toulouse, as Akor Adams continued his solid goalscoring start to the season with a goal in either half before Khalil Fayad scored in the second 45 too.
Montpellier have also beaten Lorient 3-0 this time last month, but by losing to Reims, Lille and drawing with Montpellier and Rennes since the start of September, they now have just two wins since then.
