With the international break just around the corner, Gameweek 8 dishes up the last Premier League action before a two-week lay-off.

This week’s FPL transfer deadline is 16:00 (GMT) on Friday, November 6, so make sure you have finalised your selections before Brighton and Burnley face off on the south coast.

Let’s start by checking out the upcoming fixtures.

• Brighton vs. Burnley

• Southampton vs. Newcastle

• Everton vs. Manchester United

• Crystal Palace vs. Leeds

• Chelsea vs. Sheffield United

• West Ham vs. Fulham

• West Brom vs. Tottenham

• Leicester vs. Wolves

• Manchester City vs. Liverpool

• Arsenal vs. Aston Villa

There is no denying that Sunday’s clash between Manchester City and Liverpool is the standout tie of the round.

Burnley, Sheffield United and West Brom go in search of their first Premier League wins of the season against Brighton, Chelsea and Tottenham respectively.

Elsewhere, Southampton will be looking to extend their unbeaten streak to six games when they welcome Newcastle on Friday night.

Goalkeepers

Edouard Mendy has kept three clean sheets in his first three Premier League appearances for Chelsea, and the Blues face a low-scoring Sheff Utd team this weekend.

Bernd Leno kept a clean sheet against Manchester United last time out, meaning Arsenal now have the best defensive record in the division.

Wolves boast the joint-second best defensive record, with Rui Patricio keeping four clean sheets in seven games, including a shutout against Crystal Palace last weekend.

Defenders

Ola Aina (Fulham), Kyle Walker (Man City) and Rayan Ait-Nouri (Wolves) were the highest scoring defenders in the previous round (15 points), after each player scored and kept a clean sheet.

Kurt Zouma scored big again (14 points), following a goal and a shutout for Chelsea. Reece James and Ben Chilwell appear to have nailed down the full-back roles in Frank Lampard’s side.

Burnley have only managed to score three goals in six games this term, so Brighton defenders could be worth considering this week. It is worth pointing out that Tariq Lamptey scored last time out.

Midfielders

Following a Champions League hat-trick in midweek, Diogo Jota is now pushing for a place in Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League starting XI. The Portuguese has bagged seven goals since arriving from Wolves.

James Ward-Prowse (Southampton) netted two direct free-kicks and contributed an assist against Everton last Sunday, racking up an impressive 17 points in Gameweek 7.

Jack Grealish (Aston Villa), Youri Tielemans (Leicester) and Hakim Ziyech (Chelsea) were also among last week’s top scoring midfielders.

Son Heung-min (Tottenham) is the highest scoring FPL midfielder this season. Spurs face West Brom this weekend, and the Baggies have conceded the most goals in the division (16).

Forwards

Jamie Vardy (Leicester) has now scored in three consecutive outings in all competitions, including Premier League goals against Arsenal and Leeds.

Callum Wilson (Newcastle) is proving to be an excellent budget forward pick this term, having already notched up six goals and two assists this in the opening seven gameweeks.

Of course, it is difficult to ignore the form of England strikers Harry Kane (Tottenham) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton).

After bagging five goals and two assists in seven games this term, Danny Ings (Southampton) has been ruled out for up to six weeks through injury.
