Borussia Dortmund are one team few football fans are talking about when it comes to the Bundesliga title.

The Black and Yellow’s terrible capitulation at the end of last season, losing the title on the final day, likely has few fans across the world of football believing Dortmund can win it.

Yet, Edin Terzic’s team is fourth in the league, with 17 points after seven games. Dortmund are just two points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen ahead of the weekend’s action in Germany.

On Friday night, Dortmund will host Werder Bremen at Signal Iduna Park. Bremen had a poor start to the campaign, and it could be a season of fight against relegation.

The Green and White will start the weekend in 14th place, with six points from seven games.

Werder Bremen go into the weekend on the back of two straight losses. A 4-2 loss to Darmstadt was followed by a 3-2 loss to Hoffenheim.

Dortmund, on the other hand, won their last four games in the Bundesliga. Three of the four fixtures saw both teams score and over 2.5 goals scored.

Werder Bremen went to Signal Iduna Park last season and left with a 3-2 come from behind win.

Looking back at the campaign, had Dortmund held on to win that match, they would have won the title.

Dortmund won four of their last five head-to-head encounters with Werder Bremen in all competitions.

In each of the last five games between these teams, Borussia Dortmund scored 2.0 or more goals.

Terzic’s team took 10 points from 12 points on offer at Signal Iduna Park this season in the league. Dortmund outscored their four opponents at home by a score of 8-4.

Werder Bremen are the Bundesliga’s worst away team going into round No. 8.

The Green and White did not pick up a point on the road in three matches. They were outscored 9-4 across their three road fixtures.

Terzic has a relatively fit squad going into round No. 8. The only player of note likely to miss the game is defender Thomas Meunier, who is struggling for full fitness.

Attacking midfielder Julian Brandt goes into the game with four assists. It is the second-most assists in the league this season.

For Bremen coach Ole Werner, several players are missing. Summer signing Naby Keita is out until November with a hip injury.

Goalkeepers Dudu and Jiri Pavlenka are both out with injuries. Defenders Amos Pieper and Niklas Stark could still make the squad.

Unlike last season’s game at Signal Iduna Park against Bremen, Borussia Dortmund should win without hassle, posting a 3-0 win.
