The Trophee des Champions takes centre stage in France on Wednesday as Paris Saint-Germain take on Toulouse at the Parc des Princes.

This clash sees the reigning Ligue 1 champions (PSG) battle it out with the winners of the Coupe de France (Toulouse) for the Super Cup silverware.

Can PSG win a 10th Trophee des Champions in 11 years? Or will Toulouse clinch their first-ever title? It’s time to take a closer look at the teams.

Let’s start with the Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint-Germain, who head into Wednesday’s showdown on an eight-game unbeaten streak across all competitions.

When you look at the bigger picture, PSG have lost just one of their last 14 matches, picking up 10 wins and three draws in the process.

Thanks to a 3-1 victory over Metz before the winter break, Paris find themselves five points clear of second-place Nice at the Ligue 1 summit.

Having won nine of the previous 10 Trophee des Champions titles, the club from the capital will be confident of tasting success on Wednesday.

As for the Coupe de France winners, they find themselves at the opposite end of the Ligue 1 table following a poor start to the season.

Holding a record of two wins, eight draws and seven losses, Toulouse occupy the relegation play-off spot as we enter the second half of the campaign.

In fact, Toulouse have failed to win any of their previous 10 league games, recording five draws and five defeats to remain in danger of the drop.

Having lost just one of their six Europa League clashes, however, Toulouse will back themselves to turn things around.

Head-to-head: Toulouse’s last victory over PSG came back in 2016. Since then, Paris have won seven of the nine meetings between the teams.

Still, Toulouse can take confidence from the fact that they held PSG to a 1-1 draw at the beginning of the current campaign.

Team news: PSG’s lengthy injury list contains Ousmane Dembele, Arnau Tenas, Fabian Ruiz, Keylor Navas, Sergio Rico, Nuno Mendes and Presnel Kimpembe.

Toulouse also have multiple injury absentees, with Mikkel Desler, Niklas Schmidt, Zakaria Aboukhlal and Oliver Zanden set to miss Wednesday’s showdown.

When you consider the 26-point gulf between PSG and Toulouse in the Ligue 1 table, all the signs point towards a win for the reigning champions.

Forebet predicts that Paris Saint-German will score over 2.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to dispatching Toulouse.
