The fourth round of the FA Cup serves up five all-Premier League clashes, one of which takes place at Stamford Bridge on Friday evening.

Chelsea and Aston Villa will both aim to punch their ticket to the last 16 – and Forebet’s algorithm will aim to predict the outcome of Friday’s showdown.

In this preview, we take a look at the statistics and trends for both sides before using predictive analytics to forecast the result.

Chelsea head into Friday’s clash on the back of an impressive 6-1 victory over Middlesbrough, which saw them advance to the final with a 6-2 aggregate win.

The Blues have now won five of their last six matches across all competitions, scoring 16 goals in the process (2.7 goals per game).

The stats also show that Mauricio Pochettino’s men have been strong on home soil of late, winning each of their previous seven encounters at Stamford Bridge.

Having lost just one of their last 12 home games – picking up nine wins along the way – Chelsea will be confident of reaching the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Funnily enough, Aston Villa also defeated Middlesbrough earlier this month to book their place in the fourth round, courtesy of Matty Cash’s 87th-minute winner.

Following a goalless draw with Everton last time out, Unai Emery’s men enter Friday’s showdown on a three-game unbeaten streak across all competitions.

When you look at the bigger picture, Villa have lost just one of their last 14 games, with two defeats coming in their previous 21 encounters.

The Villains have also enjoyed plenty of positive results on the road in recent times, recording five wins, four draws and two losses in their past 11 away games.

Head-to-head: Aston Villa have won each of their last two matches against Chelsea without conceding a single goal, claiming a 1-0 victory in the Premier League back in September.

Across the past seven meetings, however, both sides have registered three wins, so there is very little between them in the recent H2H analysis.

Team news: Reece James, Wesley Fofana, Marc Cucurella, Romeo Lavia and Robert Sanchez are all injured for Chelsea, while Nicolas Jackson is at the Africa Cup of Nations.

As for Aston Villa, Bertrand Traore is on AFCON duty, while Emi Buendia and Tyrone Mings are injured. Plus, Lucas Digne, Pau Torres and Jacob Ramsey are doubts.

Although Aston Villa have lost only two of their last 21 matches across all competitions, it is difficult to ignore Chelsea’s recent record at Stamford Bridge.

For that reason, Forebet predicts that Chelsea will get the better of Aston Villa, with the hosts expected to keep a clean sheet en route to victory.
