RB Leipzig made such a positive start to their Bundesliga campaign under highly-rated coach Julian Nagelsmann. However, Die Roten Bullen’s form has slipped in recent weeks. In fact, they have now failed to win in four league games.
A home game against Mainz on Saturday afternoon at the Red Bull Arena seems to be perfect for Nagelsmann’s team to get their Bundesliga title charge back on track.
The recent poor run of form has seen Leipzig slip to sixth place in the German top-flight table, four points behind current leaders Monchengladbach. Last time out, they suffered a 2-1 defeat at surprise-package Freiburg. It was RB Leipzig’s fourth league game in a row that saw both teams score. The result also means that Leipzig has kept just one clean sheet in their last eight outings in the German top-flight.
Die Roten Bullen’s home form has not been great of late, with just one Bundesliga win in their last five games at the Red Bull Arena. They have drawn three of those five home games though. They have to turn those draws into wins if they want to mount a realistic title challenge.
Mainz have experienced a poor start to their Bundesliga campaign, picking up just nine points from as many games in the German top-flight. The visitors have defined inconsistency of late, recording three wins and suffering three defeats in their last six Bundesliga matches. Last time out, the visitors recorded a 3-1 home win over Koln.
The match against Koln was another high-scoring affair for Mainz in the Bundesliga, as nine of their last ten league games in the German top-flight have produced over 2.5 goals.
Mainz have struggled against Leipzig in recent seasons, winning just one of the last six meetings with the home side. Forebet predicts that that particular poor run of form will continue with Leipzig recording a victory in a high-scoring encounter.
