Lazio tipped to dispatch struggling Juventus

Lazio will be looking to heap more misery on faltering Juventus when the two sides clash at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday.

Juventus find themselves all the way down in eighth place – 14 points behind first-place Napoli – following a below-par start to the Serie A season.

Meanwhile, Lazio sit fifth in the table – three points clear of Juventus – and head into Saturday’s showdown on a three-game unbeaten streak.

Lazio have recorded six wins, three draw and three losses from their opening 12 league matches this term.

They have netted 25 goals in the process, meaning they are the third-highest scorers in the Italian top tier – behind Inter and Milan.

However, it is worth pointing out that Lazio have also conceded 19 goals this season. As a result, they have the worst defensive record in the top eight.

Lazio can take confidence from the fact that they are currently enjoying a 19-game unbeaten streak on home soil in Serie A.

In fact, the Eagles have won each of their previous four league matches at the Stadio Olimpico – so they will fancy their chances of upsetting Juventus.

Max Allegri’s side have only managed to win five of their 12 Serie A matches this season, leaving them miles off the pace in the title race.

They have netted just 16 goals along the way, too, meaning no team have scored more than them in the top 11.

Juventus were enduring a three-match winless run before the international break but managed to return to winning ways before the recent lay-off.

Allegri’s men were on course for a goalless draw with Fiorentina before Juan Cuadrado popped up with a 91st-minute winner last time out.

Head-to-head: Across the past five meetings between Lazio and Juventus, both sides have picked up two wins.

Given that over 1.5 goals have been scored in each of their previous seven encounters, there shouldn’t be a shortage of goals on Saturday.

Team news: Lazio will be without injured quartet Bobby Adekanye, Manuel Lazzari, Ciro Immobile and Adam Marusic this weekend.

On the flip side, Juventus currently have Giorgio Chiellini and Paulo Dybala on the sidelines due to injury.

With Juventus struggling for consistency this term, Lazio look set to seize the opportunity to get the better of the Old Lady.

Forebet predicts that Lazio will score over 1.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to victory on home soil.
