Paris Saint-Germain will be looking to join Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League knockout phase when the two sides meet at Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday.

As we head into Matchday 6, first-placed Borussia Dortmund lead second-placed PSG by three points in Group F, meaning a win for the visitors would be enough.

However, with Newcastle United and AC Milan both sitting on five points, the French giants can’t afford to slip up in Germany.

Dortmund enter Wednesday’s showdown on the back of a 3-2 defeat to RB Leipzig, with Mats Hummels seeing red after just 15 minutes.

BVB have now failed to win any of their last three matches across all competitions, recording one draw and two losses in that time.

In the Champions League, however, Dortmund have chalked up three successive victories, claiming back-to-back wins against Newcastle before defeating Milan.

Having taken 10 points from a possible 15 in Group F – conceding only three goals in the process – BVB are already preparing for life in the last 16.

As for Paris Saint-Germain, they secured a 2-1 victory over Nantes last time out, racking up 66% possession and 16 shots on home soil.

The perennial French champions now find themselves four points clear at the summit of Ligue 1, having suffered a solitary defeat in 15 games this season.

That said, PSG have experienced an inconsistent Champions League campaign up to now, recording two wins, one draw and two defeats.

Although Luis Enrique’s side have scored eight goals in the UCL, they have also conceded seven, so they will need to tighten things up at the back if they are to progress.

Head-to-head: Paris Saint-Germain defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the reverse fixture back in September, courtesy of goals from Kylian Mbappe and Achraf Hakimi.

Consequently, PSG have lost just one of their five previous meetings with Dortmund, recording two wins and two draws along the way.

Team news: Julien Duranville, Sebastien Haller, Youssoufa Moukoko, Felix Nmecha, Julian Ryerson, Marcel Sabitzer and Marius Wolf all missed Dortmund’s defeat to Leipzig on Saturday.

On the flip side, PSG’s injury list contains Presnel Kimpembe, Alexandre Letellier, Nuno Mendes, Keylor Navas, Sergio Rico and Fabian Ruiz.

Although PSG triumphed in the reverse fixture, Borussia Dortmund will back themselves to pick up a positive result on home soil.

Forebet predicts that Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain will play out a low-scoring draw at Signal Iduna Park.
