Will Leicester Put One Hand on the Title by Beating Southampton Once More
3053

It’s one of the biggest games of the Championship season when Leicester City and Southampton do battle at the King Power Stadium and Forebet is back for all the latest data, analysis and mathematics for these football predictions.

Leicester got a crucial win against West Bromwich Albion on home soil last time out as Jamie Vardy got back amongst the goals with a crucial header that gave his side all three points.

Hamza Choudhury ended up being the hero, however, with a stunning set of three goalline clearances.

There are now three games left in the Championship, and although promotion back into the Premier League cannot be secured for a little longer, should the Foxes win, they will open up a gap of five points on Ipswich Town in second place until the weekend at least.

Leicester will also move above Southamptoton in fourth place by 10 points should they get all three points in this game.

Currently, the Foxes have managed to lose 10 times, however, which is four more than Ipswich and actually the most number of games lost within the top four.

On the other hand, with 29 wins, no side has more victories either. Leicester also have the second best defensive record with 39 goals let in and only Southampton themselves and Ipswich have more goals.

These two last met in the league all the way back in September where Leicester were comfortable winners in a 4-1 battering.

Vardy scored after just a few seconds in that game before Kasey McAteer scored in the first half alongside Wilfred Ndidi. Stephy Mavididi made sure of the three points, as Samuel Edozie brought one back for Southampton.

As for the Saints, their hopes of getting into the top two automatic promotion spots after a defeat to Cardiff City in South Wales last weekend.

Southampton are now behind Ipswich Town by five points in the table, so there is still some hope of getting into the top two. On the other hand, a playoffs spot is already guaranteed with a gap of 18 points on Hull City in seventh.

The Saints did put together a three-game winning run before that loss to Cardiff, beating Coventry City, Watford and Preston North End all in a row. They also drew with Blackburn Rovers but lost to Ipswich earlier in the month.

Forebet predicts a draw here and under 2.5 goals.
