This season’s surprise package in La Liga will aim to enhance their top-four chances when they face one of the division’s most off-form teams this weekend.

On Saturday afternoon, Champions League-chasing Girona travel to the Canary Islands to take on struggling Las Palmas, who have lost each of their last five matches.

If you’re looking for stats, trends and analysis ahead of Saturday’s clash, you’ve come to the right place. Forebet’s mathematics-based football predictions have got you covered.

Las Palmas’ form went from bad to worse last weekend as they suffered a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Celta Vigo, conceding a whopping 21 shots in the process.

That defeat extended Las Palmas’ losing streak to five matches. To make matters worse, they have conceded 10 goals in that time (2 goals per game).

It is also worth noting that Las Palmas have failed to win any of their last eight La Liga encounters, recording two draws and six losses along the way.

Given that only four teams have scored more La Liga goals than Las Palmas this term, the Gran Canaria outfit will likely struggle to return to winning ways this weekend.

Girona, meanwhile, claimed a 4-1 victory over Cadiz last time out, cementing third place in the table while moving 10 points inside the top four.

There is no hiding the fact that Girona have been wildly inconsistent in recent weeks, recording four wins and five defeats in their previous nine games.

Still, they find themselves in control of their Champions League dreams after losing just one of their opening 23 matches in the league.

Although Girona have lost each of their last five away league outings, they will fancy their chances of bucking that trend against struggling Las Palmas.

Head-to-head: Las Palmas have failed to win any of their last nine meetings with Girona, suffering six defeats across all competitions in that time.

Given that five of the previous seven meetings between the teams have produced under 2.5 goals, Saturday’s clash could be another low-scoring affair.

Team news: Las Palmas are currently without Mexican defender Julian Araujo, who has missed the past three matches due to a muscle injury.

As the Girona, Ricard Artero and Joel Roca will miss this weekend’s game due to injury. There are also question marks over Cristian Stuani and Viktor Tsygankov.

This clash provides Girona with the ideal opportunity to put their recent away-day struggles behind them and return to winning ways on the road.

Forebet predicts that Girona will score over 1.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to inflicting a sixth successive defeat on Las Palmas.
