Young Boys to Storm Past Zurich on the Opening Day in the Super League
2052

It's the opening weekend of the Swiss Super League as FC Zurich travel to the Wankdorf Stadium to meet with BSC Young Boys as the champions meet with the third-placed side in what is usually one of the most thrilling encounters of the league season already.

Zurich absolutely stormed to the league last season and left absolutely everybody else in their wake, including Young Boys and Basel. The club ended up finishing with 16 points more than Young Boys and even 15 more than their closest competitors, Basel.

Zurich also ended the campaign with a stunning record of 23 wins from the 36 games.

What’s more, the champions drew just seven times and lost only six in that campaign and by scoring 76 goals as well as only 46 going in their own goal, they sat with the best goal difference record at the end of the season too.

Last time out between these two in the Super League, Zurich ran out 2-1 winners back in April thanks to a brace from Assan Ceesay, who scored a goal in either half.

Theoson Siebatcheu scored late on for Young Boys, but this wasn't enough to get a point as Zurich ran out the winners and all but secured the title in the process very early on in the season.

Since the end of the campaign, the Swiss champions have run riot over many sides in pre season friendlies with them smashing Baden 11-0, Thalwil 7-0, although they did lose their most recent encounter with Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart.

There is also a Champions League qualifier two-legged affair for Franco Foda's men in a few days against Qarabag, and Young Boys may now favour themselves to get all three points here.

Off the back of their 16 wins and eight defeats in the league, Young Boys are hopeful of another solid season, especially as they netted 80 goals last season from only 36 outings - nobody in the league scored more.

The Swiss giants did draw recently with 2. Bundesliga side, Greuther Furth, but a 7-0 demolition over Schaffhausen just prior to this shows their goalscoring abilities is still there heading into the new campaign.

What's more, while Zurich are set to battle for a Champions League spot, Young Boys find themselves travelling to Liepaja for a Europa Conference League qualifier too, and they also have a few days extra to rest in between these two games for that one.

Forebet expects there to be over 2.5 goals in this game, and Forebet is predicting a Young Boys win on the opening day of action in Switzerland.
