Table-topping Tottenham Hotspur will aim to extend their unbeaten start to the Premier League season when they take on London rivals Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Friday night.
Ange Postecoglou’s side find themselves two points clear at the summit thanks to a run of seven victories and two draws.
Meanwhile, the Eagles occupy 11th place in the standings – 11 points shy of Spurs – having recorded three wins, three draws and three defeats.
Crystal Palace endured a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Newcastle United last weekend, despite racking up 17 shots at St. James’ Park.
As a result, Roy Hodgson’s boys have managed to win just one of their previous six matches across all competitions, recording two draws and three losses in that time.
With a measly seven goals to their name, only winless Bournemouth have scored fewer Premier League goals than Crystal Palace this season.
That said, the Eagles possess one of the best defensive records in the division, as only six sides have conceded fewer goals in 2023-24.
Tottenham, on the other hand, claimed a 2-0 victory over Fulham on Monday, courtesy of goals from Son Heung-min and James Maddison.
Son has now scored seven goals in nine Premier League appearances this term, while Maddison has contributed three goals and five assists since arriving from Leicester City.
Thanks to Monday’s victory, Spurs have now taken 23 points from a possible 27 this season, picking up seven wins and two draws to snatch top spot.
It is also worth noting that Tottenham have won three of their last four away league outings, scoring 10 goals while keeping two clean sheets along the way.
Head-to-head: Tottenham have avoided defeat in 19 of their last 22 Premier League meetings with Crystal Palace, underlining their dominance.
On top of that, Spurs have not trailed Crystal Palace at half time in each of their previous 14 Premier League encounters.
Team news: Crystal Palace’s injury list features Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze, Jeffrey Schlupp, Dean Henderson, James Tomkins and Nathan Ferguson.
Meanwhile, Tottenham will be without the injured quartet of Ivan Perisic, Manor Solomon, Ryan Sessegnon and Rodrigo Bentancur on Friday.
When you couple Tottenham’s fine form with Palace’s poor record in this fixture, all the signs point towards a straightforward away win.
Forebet predicts that Tottenham Hotspur will score over 1.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to dispatching Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
