Can Brighton get back on track at the expense of Fulham?

Brighton & Hove Albion will be looking to end a three-game winless run in the Premier League when they welcome Fulham to the Amex on Sunday.

With nine matches in the books, the Seagulls find themselves seventh in the table – four points shy of the top four and seven points behind leaders Tottenham Hotspur.

At the opposite end of the standings, Fulham occupy 13th place. The Cottagers are five points behind Brighton and seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Brighton returned to winning ways in the Europa League on Thursday, claiming a 2-0 victory over Ajax thanks to goals from Joao Pedro and Ansu Fati.

However, the Seagulls have only managed to win one of their last six matches across all competitions, recording two draws and three losses in that time.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side made a hugely impressive start to the Premier League season, winning five of their opening six matches while scoring over 2.5 goals on five occasions.

Despite their recent slump, Brighton are still the third-highest scorers in the division, having netted 22 goals in nine outings (2.4 goals per game).

Meanwhile, Fulham suffered a 2-0 defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last time out, conceding 15 shots while failing to keep the home attack at bay.

The Cottagers have now managed to win just one of their previous four league encounters, recording one draw and two losses in the process.

In terms of the bigger picture, Marco Silva’s men have taken 11 points from a possible 27 this term, leaving them in the bottom half of the table.

It is also worth noting that only the bottom three clubs have scored fewer goals than Fulham this season, with the Cottagers averaging 0.9 goals per game in 2023-24.

Head-to-head: Interestingly, Fulham have avoided defeat in each of their last six Premier League meetings with Brighton, recording three wins and three draws.

The Cottagers did the double over the Seagulls last season, winning 2-1 at home before triumphing 1-0 at the Amex.

Team news: Brighton currently have Julio Enciso, Jakub Moder, Pervis Estupinan, Tariq Lamptey, Danny Welbeck and Solly March sidelined through injury.

Fulham also have a number of players on the treatment table, including Tosin Adarabioyo, Adama Traore, Kenny Tete and Issa Diop.

Regardless of Fulham’s strong record against Brighton in recent times, De Zerbi’s men are expected to be too strong for the Cottagers on this occasion.

Forebet predicts that Brighton and Fulham will combine for over 2.5 goals at the Amex, with the home side coming out on top.
