Burton Albion and Port Vale will meet on Tuesday night in an FA Cup first-round replay. The teams previously played on November 4th with the initial match finishing nil-nil at Port Vale. The teams will now meet with progression to the second round on the line.

The first-round replay features two clubs playing in League One. Neither side is currently pushing for a promotion playoff spot and are mired in midtable.

Burton go into the match having failed to win any of their last three matches in League One. The club lost 2-0 away to Northampton at the weekend.

The Brewers have a –5-goal difference this season in 17 league matches. Keep in mind they did not concede against Port Vale in the first match.

The Vale are in worse form than Burton Albion ahead of Tuesday night’s fixture. The Stoke-on-Trent-based club went winless in their last six league matches.

Add in their nil-nil draw against Burton in the initial FA Cup first-round game, and they are winless in their last seven matches in all competitions.

Port Vale have a –11-goal difference in League One this season. They are not a good away team in League One this term.

The Vale failed to win each of their last five league matches on the road.

Burton, on the other hand, went unbeaten in their last five matches at home. The Brewers should be confident of getting a result at home versus a struggling Port Vale.

Burton Albion posted a record of 3W-1D-2L against Port Vale in their last six encounters. Four of those six games in all competitions ended with over 2.5 goals. Moreover, four of the last six matches between these clubs saw both teams score.

Joe Powell leads Burton in goals, with four in all competitions. Forward Beryly Lubala has three goals in all matches this term. Goals have not flowed for Burton this season, which is why they are midtable in League One and playing an FA Cup first-round replay.

Port Vale are also a struggler in terms of goals. They are led in scoring by Ben Garrity with five this term in all competitions.

Ethan Chislett and Alfie Devine have added three goals apiece in all competitions.

Tuesday’s game should see more goals than the teams’ previous FA Cup first-round game. The Brewers and Vale should combine for four goals, split two apiece.

The replay should end in a draw with the teams needing further time to separate them.
