Two Serie A giants clash in Bergamo this weekend with Atalanta playing hosts to Napoli this Saturday evening as fourth takes on fifth with both sides aiming for a return to the win column after shocking recent results.

Napoli head into this one off the back of arguably their worst result of the past two years.

In fact, after barely losing a game at home in recent campaigns and losing at home just once in Serie A en route to winning the title, they were stunned by relegation-fighting Empoli at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium before the international break.

Napoli have now let in 13 goals from 12 games and suffered almost the same amount of defeats already than they did in the entirety of their Scudetto-winning season of last year, as they’ve been beaten three times and lost only four in 2022/23.

The Serie A champions have also struggled in the Champions League this campaign after a 1-1 draw at home to Union Berlin came in just two weeks after beating the Bundesliga in Germany 1-0.

They are still in a commanding spot in the final two games of the group stages, but with a loss to Real Madrid and a trip to the Santiago Bernabeu to come, they could still end up in third.

Napoli have beaten Salernitana in November as well, however, as Elif Elmas and Giacomo Raspadori netted earlier in the month of a 2-0 win.

They have also drawn with AC Milan at home in the past 30 days, as Matteo Politano and Raspadori got goals in the 2-2 draw.

Nevertheless, despite topsy-turvy form and a gap of 11 points already on the top spot they claimed last year, they are ahead of Atalanta in fifth by one point.

Atalanta snatched a point at the Dacia Arena over Udinese just before the break for international games, as Ederson netted in added time of a 1-1 draw.

They also beat Sturm Graz 1-0 before that in the Europa League to remain top of Group D and unbeaten in Europe. In fact, they are already in the knockout rounds of the competition with 10 points so far.

Atalanta are sitting with 20 points and four losses so far, meaning they have won just 50% (6) of their games in 2023/24 in Serie A. Forebet now predicts a draw here and for the game to see under 2.5 goals.
