Tottenham Hotspur are looking to put together a solid run of form in the FA Cup with Burnley up next in north London as the Lilywhites aim to get closer to clinching their first trophy in almost 15 years.

It’s been a long and tiresome period for Spurs fans in the past decade, as they’ve witnessed rivals Arsenal clinch the FA Cup on numerous occasions and also suffer defeats in Champions League and League Cup finals.

This year, however, with one of either Arsenal or Liverpool heading out of the competition early as they clash with one another, Spurs could find themselves well within a shot of silverware this season, given their much-improved form in the Premier League too.

Tottenham are also not in Europe this season and were knocked out of the EFL Cup by Fulham in the round of 32.

Ultimately, with their title race losing a lot of steam in the past two months, the FA Cup is likely their only chance to clinch a trophy in Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge.

The former Celtic manager has put his side back to within just one point of the top four after a 3-1 win against Bournemouth that saw Pape Sarr open up his account for the season before Son Heung-min registered another goal alongside yet another finish from Richarlison.

Spurs did lose to Brighton & Hove Albion just before this but further wins over Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest and Everton in December meant they ended the month with two defeats, four wins and a draw with Manchester City at the Etihad too.

In reality, Spurs are still in with a shout of a spot in the top four this season and they are in fact just six points adrift of Liverpool at the top of the table.

As for Burnley, it’s been a terrible return to Premier League action for them after storming the Championship.

The Clarets are coming into this game off the back of another defeat after losing 3-2 away to Aston Villa, while they also suffered losses to Everton and Liverpool around Christmas time. Burnley did, however, manage to beat Fulham at Craven Cottage two days before Christmas.

Nevertheless, Burnley are still sitting down in the relegation zone and in 19th with a gap of five points on Everton in the safe spot of 17th.

Forebet now predicts a win for Tottenham and the game to see over 2.5 goals.
