The Spanish capital will come to a standstill on Sunday night as El Derbi Madrileno takes centre stage at the Santiago Bernabeu.

With 22 matches in the books, La Liga leaders Real Madrid find themselves two points clear of second-placed Girona and 10 points above third-placed Atletico Madrid.

Can Diego Simeone’s men halt their rivals’ hot streak? Or will Los Blancos continue their seemingly unstoppable title charge? Read on to discover what Forebet’s algorithm predicts.

Real Madrid claimed a 2-0 victory over Getafe on Thursday, courtesy of a brace from Joselu, who finally ended a run of 12 league games with a goal.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side have now won each of their last six La Liga matches, with 13 victories and three draws coming in their previous 16 encounters.

When you look at the bigger picture, Los Blancos have lost just one of their 22 league games this season. Funnily enough, that defeat came against Atletico back in September.

Having taken 28 points from a possible 30 at the Bernabeu this term, Real Madrid will be confident of exacting revenge on their old foes this time around.

Atletico also claimed an important victory in midweek, defeating Rayo Vallecano 2-1 thanks to a 90th-minute winner from Memphis Depay.

That victory extended Atleti’s winning streak in La Liga to three matches, with a solitary goal conceded since last month’s crazy 4-3 defeat to Girona.

Still, trends show that Simeone’s side have been inconsistent in the league of late, with seven wins, one draw and four losses coming in their past 12 games.

It is also worth noting that Atletico have struggled on the road in recent times, losing four of their last five away league outings while conceding nine goals.

Head-to-head: Atletico Madrid won the reverse fixture 3-1 back in September, meaning Simeone’s men have not lost any of their last five meetings with Los Blancos in normal time.

In La Liga, however, Atletico have won just two of their previous 10 matches against Real Madrid, suffering five defeats along the way.

Team news: The hosts are still missing three key players through injury, with Thibaut Courtois, David Alaba and Eder Militao on the sidelines.

On the flip side, the visitors’ injury list contains Cesar Azpilicueta, Jose Maria Gimenez, Thomas Lemar, Alvaro Morata and Vitolo.

Although Atletico have upped their game since the turn of the year, it is difficult to ignore Real Madrid’s remarkable hot streak.

Forebet predicts that both teams will score on Sunday. However, Real Madrid look set to outscore their rivals and strengthen their title bid.
