Birmingham City and Derby County to both score in midlands clash

It’s East verses West in the midlands on Good Friday as Birmingham City take on Derby County at St Andrews with both teams needing all three points in their respective battles near the bottom and top of the Championship league table.
Birmingham City extended their unbeaten run to three matches in the second tier on the weekend when they earned a point in a 1-1 draw away at Portman Road against Ipswich Town which followed recent and decent results against 2nd placed Leeds United which The Blues won 1-0 and a 1-1 draw with 3rd placed Sheffield United.
Following a sticky period of the season which saw Gary Monk’s side capture just one win during a poor eight match sequence, which was a rather surprising 2-1 away at play-off hopefuls, Bristol City, along with a 9-point deduction handed down by the Football League, the hosts finally seem to be getting back onto an even keel.
The recent results against two of the top three clubs in the division will have given Birmingham plenty of hope and belief that they can avoid being dragged down into the bottom three as they’ve shown they can mix it with the best.
Forwards Adams (22 goals) and Jutkiewicz (12 goals) have formed a valuable partnership up front and the hosts will be confident they can get something from this clash.
Derby County once again showed their dominance over a struggling relegation outfit on Saturday when they thrashed Bolton Wanderers 4-0 at their Pride Park which has kept The Rams in the hunt for a top six finish.
Derby had previously dished out a 6-1 humiliation of Rotherham United amidst a run of seven matches with just one defeat in the Championship in recent weeks as Frank Lampard’s side look to keep the pressure on 6th placed Bristol City.
However, it’s Derby County’s poor results away from home that have prevented The Rams from already occupying a place in the play-off pack as the visitors have now gone seven matches without a win on their travels.
This miserable sequence of results include defeats at Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers, and if Derby are to be considered genuine play-off contenders then they need to get a result in the west midlands on Good Friday.
Derby possess various attacking outlets in the shape of goalscoring midfielders Wilson (12 goals), Mount (8 goals) and Lawrence (5 goals) along with forwards Waghorn and Marriott (7 goals apiece).
Both teams are very capable of scoring but conceding goals in equal measure so therefore both teams to score looks a likely outcome here.
