Swansea City look for seventh home win on trot when Hull visit

Swansea City maintained their outside hopes of a top six finish on Easter Monday when they registered a 1-0 win away at Ipswich Town which became The Swans’ fifth win from their last six matches overall.

Swansea now occupy 10th place in the Championship and five points adrift of 6th placed Derby County but they only have two matches remaining of this season, and even if they grab all three points here against Hull City, they’ll still need Derby to slip up for them to make it to the play-offs.

Swansea basically need to keep winning and having won their last six home matches on the trot with victories chalked up over Millwall, Bolton Wanderers, Brentford, Middlesbrough, Stoke City and Rotherham United, the hosts look in good shape to do just that.

The Swans have actually put together an impressive nine-match unbeaten run at Liberty Stadium and if Graham Potter’s side had produced a better showing away from home this season, then the hosts could already have been in the top six by now.

The same could of course be said about Hull City who occupy 13th place on the Championship ladder, but with one exception - The Tigers suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat to Sheffield United on Easter Monday which meant that Nigel Adkins’s side have now lost three matches on the trot in the second tier.

Hull previously lost away matches at Middlesbrough and West Brom, and they face a difficult trip down to Wales this Saturday as they come up against an in-form and confident Swansea City outfit.

Before their defeat at home to Sheffield United, Hull City had been unbeaten in their previous 12 matches at their KCOM Stadium, but it’s The Tigers’ poor results away from home that have prevented the visitors from making a serious challenge for a play-off spot.

Hull have lost seven of their last eight matches on the road and this has been the difference between the ‘also-rans’ and the top six as The Tigers have failed to pick up points along the way on their travels, with just the one highlight during this period being a 2-0 win away at relegated Ipswich Town.

Swansea City with home advantage should account for Hull City here to record a seventh home win on the bounce.
