On Sunday afternoon, Lazio host Atalanta at the Stadio Olimpico, in what could prove to be a vital game in the race for the European spots in Serie A.

Lazio are currently eighth in the Italian top-flight, a point outside of the Europa League spots and four points outside the top-four. The team from the Italian capital have enjoyed mixed fortunes of late in Serie A, winning just twice in their last six league games in the Italian top-flight. Last time out, in the Italian top-flight Lazio recorded a 2-1 win at Sampdoria.

Simone Inzaghi’s team have a decent recent home record in Serie A, winning four of their last six league games on home soil. Lazio’s recent home games in the Italian top-flight have been high-scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five home matches.

The fact that the home side has scored at least twice in four of their last five home games has been a big factor in the high-scoring games.

Atalanta’s league form has been strong of late, which has seen the visitors rise to fourth in the Italian top-flight table. However, they are only a point ahead of fifth-place Roma in the race for a Champions League spot in Serie A.

In fact, Gian Piero Gasparini’s team are undefeated in nine matches in Serie A, having recorded six wins in the process. Last time out, Atalanta recorded a 2-0 home win over Udinese. Their recent league games have been low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in three of their last four outings.

Atalanta’s recent away form has been strong, as they have claimed six wins in their last eight on their travels in Serie A.

Forebet predicts that Atalanta will record a victory in a low-scoring game to consolidate their position in Serie A’s top-four.
