Can Brighton Make Home Advantage Count Against Burnley?

Can Brighton Make Home Advantage Count Against Burnley?

There are several fixtures to enjoy in the Premier League this Saturday as domestic action resumes following the international break.

There is an intriguing encounter between two teams who will not only be hopeful of avoiding the drop but will be aiming to push into the top half of the table.

Brighton and Hove Albion host Burnley at the The American Express Community Stadium and both teams will see this as a winnable game.

Brighton come into this game having signed off for the international break with a 4-0 defeat at Manchester City.  The Seagulls approached the match in a positive way despite going down to an early goal and will not be overly disappointed with their performance despite the heavy loss.

Trends show Brighton have won one of their four matches in the Premier League this season and have failed to win any of the last three.  They opened with a good 3-0 win at Watford but were then held to a 1-1 draw at home by West Ham United.  Brighton have since lost 2-0 at home to Southampton and 4-0 at Manchester City.

Overall form shows Brighton have won just three of their last twenty-two Premier League games.  They have lost five of their last seven at home in all competitions, with two draws coming in their last four on home soil.

Brighton have failed to score more than a single goal in any of their last fourteen home Premier League matches.

Burnley hosted Liverpool last time out in a game that was always going to be tough.  They were doing well until they conceded an own goal and the Clarets never recovered from that blow, eventually losing the match 3-0.

That result means Burnley have failed to win their last four games in all competitions.  There have been three defeats, with two coming in the Premier League and one in the League Cup.  The other defeat in the Premier League came at Arsenal while Burnley lost 3-1 at home to Sunderland in the League Cup.

Much like their opponents, Burnley have won one of their four Premier League matches this season and that was at the start of the campaign.  They defeated Southampton 3-0 at home.  Trends show Burnley have won just four of their last twenty-six away matches in all competitions.

Team news and Brighton are without the injured Yves Bissouma and suspended Florin Andone.  They also have doubts over the fitness of Ezequiel Schelotto, Jose Izquierdo and Leandro Trossard.

Burnley could be without two midfielders as Dwight McNeil and Johann Berg Gudmundsson both aim to recover from a calf injury in time for the game.

This should be a close match and one where we are unlikely to see many goals.  A low scoring draw seems the most probably outcome.
