Blackburn to grab the points off poor-travelling Luton

Blackburn Rovers recorded a 2-1 win away from home at Reading last Saturday which not only became back-to-back wins for Saturday’s hosts, but also helped lift Blackburn into the top half of the Championship in 10th place.

The previous weekend saw Blackburn register a solid 2-0 win at home against Millwall, and having lost just 1 of their last 6 matches in the Championship, Tony Mowbray’s men are becoming a hard team to beat at the moment as momentum is building.

The 1 defeat from this recent 6-match sequence was a 3-2 defeat away to West Brom at The Hawthorns, but wins over Mowbray’s old club, Middlesbrough, along with wins against Hull City, Millwall and Reading, should give Blackburn plenty of belief and confidence in getting a result against newly-promoted Luton Town at Ewood Park on Saturday.

Indeed, Blackburn have lost just 1 of their last 7 matches on home turf at Ewood Park which was their season-opener at home against Charlton Athletic, but they’ve since tightened up and bring a 3-match unbeaten run at home into this clash.

Luton Town will make the long trip up to Lancashire on Saturday afternoon looking to avoid a fourth defeat on the trot in all competitions following back-to-back defeats in the Championship to QPR and Hull City, as well as a League Cup defeat at home to Premier League side, Leicester City.

It’s been a tough return to the Championship for Luton Town who currently find themselves hovering just above the relegation zone and just 2 points ahead of third from bottom club, Barnsley, prior to this weekend’s action.

With just 2 wins out of their first 7 matches of this season in the second tier, Luton will be facing a assignment at Ewood Park against Blackburn on Saturday, and although The Hatters registered wins against Barnsley and Huddersfield Town recently, it should be noted that both of these clubs currently occupy a place in the bottom three of the Championship.

In addition, Luton Town have recorded just 3 away wins out of their last 8 league matches overall, which may make their task of getting something out of Blackburn at Ewood Park an even tougher proposition.

In short, Blackburn look the more likely for the points here.
