Crystal Palace unlikely to end Liverpool’s unbeaten run

Crystal Palace and Liverpool meet at Selhurst Park on Saturday with Jurgen Klopp’s side looking to extend their unbeaten run and maintain a healthy lead at the top of the Premier League table.

The Reds comprehensively beat Manchester City 3-1 at Anfield before the international break. Goals from Fabinho, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane ensured Liverpool sit eight points clear of second-place Leicester City.

Liverpool are well on course to claim their first top-flight title since 1989, but they will be wary of their recent poor record at Selhurst Park.

The Reds effectively threw away the title in 2014 with a 3-3 draw away to the Eagles, so Klopp’s men will be desperate to get the job done this time around.

However, it’s difficult to imagine anything other than a Liverpool win on Saturday. The Merseysiders have won 11 of their 12 league games so far in 2019/20 and are looking unbeatable at the moment.

Following back-to-back wins over Norwich and West Ham, Crystal Palace have since faced Man City, Arsenal, Leicester and Chelsea in their last four matches. This difficult run of fixtures has seen the Eagles pick up just one point.

Roy Hodgson’s side drew 2-2 with Arsenal, while their games with Man City, Leicester and Chelsea each ended in a 2-0 defeat. After a strong start to the season, this tricky spell has seen Palace’s form take a turn for the worse.

The Eagles have conceded just five goals at home this season. Still, they have only managed to find the back of the net four times themselves.

Hodgson will be pleased with his team’s defensive efforts, but the experienced manager will know his side must score more goals.

On the other hand, Liverpool’s defensive record is bettered only by Leicester and Man City. Remarkably, both these teams have scored more goals than the Reds, too. With that being said, Liverpool are flying high at the top of the table in the Premier League.

Klopp will be hoping that Salah is available for selection after the Egyptian picked up a knock against Man City. Xherdan Shaqiri and Andy Robertson are expected to be ready for Saturday.

Palace’s star man, Wilfred Zaha, is currently nursing a foot injury. The team is significantly weaker without the Ivorian, so Hodgson will be desperate for the winger to be fit to face Liverpool.

Crystal Palace will put up a fight, but Liverpool should be far too strong for the Eagles. The Reds’ unbeaten run looks set to continue.

Forebet predicts that Liverpool will claim all three points at Selhurst Park. The away side is likely to score over 2.5 goals in the process.
