Manchester United to inflict more misery on Arsenal

Manchester United head to the Emirates to face off with an extremely out of form Arsenal. The Gunners have won just once in their last 15 matches in all competitions.

Despite Arsenal sacking manager Unai Emery, things have not got any better at the Emirates. Sunday’s loss to Chelsea was a microcosm of Arsenal’s season. The Gunners scored through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to take the lead only for the defence to crumble and give up two goals.

Manchester United have won on two of their last three trips to the Emirates. Last season, the Red Devils went to north London and won in the FA Cup 3-1 versus Arsenal. The Red Devils are unbeaten in seven of their last 10 games versus Arsenal. Four of those seven matches ended in Manchester United wins.

Arsenal grabbed a second-half equaliser when the two teams met previously this season. Manchester United scored through Scott McTominay only for Aubameyang to hit back courtesy of a defensive error from the Red Devils.

Manchester United are unbeaten in eight of their last nine games in all competitions. That one loss came as a shock as Watford won 2-0 at Vicarage Road playing Manchester United off of the park.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should be without five players due to injury. McTominay, who has been excellent this season, is ruled out until late January. Marcos Rojo, Eric Bailly, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, and Axel Tuanzebe are also out of action.

Despite their absences, Solskjaer should have plenty of cover for his team. Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are both in-form having scored at the weekend versus Burnley. Rashford now has 12 Premier League goals.

Arsenal have been hit hard by injuries and new manager Mikel Arteta faces a defensive crisis. Kieran Tierney, Sokratis, Sead Kolasinac, and Calum Chambers are all four ruled out of the match.

Defenders Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding are also listed as injured but could still make the squad for Wednesday night. Dani Ceballos and Gabriel Martinelli are also racing to be back from their respective injuries.

Ten of the last 13 matches between Arsenal and Manchester United have seen both teams score goals. Eight of those 13 matches also saw over 2.5 goals scored. Wednesday’s match should once again see both sides score and more than 2.5 goals tallied.

Manchester United should leave north London once more with a win adding to Arteta’s nightmare start at the Emirates. The Red Devils could inch closer to the top four with the win.
