Reds defence to be put to the test at Tottenham

Liverpool have made another inconsistent start to their Premier League campaign with a win and a defeat. However, what has been a major concern has been the fact they Jurgen Klopp’s team have conceded five goals in their opening two games.

The Reds defence will face a big test this weekend, as they travel to north London to play Tottenham at White Hart Lane. Spurs have not looked at their sharpest so far this season, but they have the attacking players to punish any slackness in the Liverpool defence.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino decided to field both strikers Harry Kane and Vincent Janssen last time out and could once again field the pair, as the Argentine looks for his team to rediscover their golden touch of last season.

Liverpool does have hope, though. In fact, the Merseysiders are unbeaten in their last three visits to White Hart Lane and also kept clean sheets in those games. Klopp’s team have also already won in north London at Arsenal in their opening Premier League game.

History will matter little though if the Reds put in the sort of poor defensive displays they have produced in the last two games and largely for much of last season as well.

Liverpool will have winger Sadio Mane back in their team after he missed the trip to Burnley. The Senegalese international scored against Burton midweek. He could be a key player against Spurs.

However, it’s the other end of the field that most Reds fans are currently concerned about. Tottenham may not have made a fantastic start to the campaign, but if they are given chances they are more than likely to take them against the Reds.
