It’s another Midlands derby in the Premier League this Wednesday with Aston Villa set to welcome local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers to Villa Park as two Spanish managers clash in the English top flight in a rare occurrence.
Rarely have we ever seen two Spanish managers meet each other in England. Unai Emery of Villa will lead his men out at home, as Julen Lopetegui clashes with his compatriot in what will be just his third outing in the Premier League.
Lopetegui kicked off his time in England with a special win over Everton. Daniel Podence scored an equaliser against the Toffees with the Portuguese bagging his first league goal of the season.
Rayan Ait-Nouri also netted in that game, as he scored the winner in the 95th minute. It also threw Wolves off the bottom of the table, as they pulled Everton closer to them in this tense Premier League relegation battle.
Wolves met with the in-form Manchester United shortly after their win on Merseyside, with Marcus Rashford scoring a second half goal to hand all three points to United.
It was Lopetegui’s first home Premier League game with his new club, and Wolves had a total of 10 shots in the game with three of them being on target. The club also had 45% possession.
Villa got a stunning win last time out over Tottenham Hotspur in north London with Unai Emery extending his unbeaten run against Spurs in the Premier League even more.
Douglas Luiz stole the show with a stunning goal that day, as Emi Buendia also scored at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Villa met with Liverpool in their Premier League return as well, losing 3-1 after going two goals down inside the first half.
Ollie Watkins bagged another goal that day for the Villains as he continues to be the club’s top scorer and main source of any threat.
Villa are now within touching distance of the top half of the Premier League table, as they sit three points behind 10th-placed Brighton & Hove Albion.
The club have managed to score 19 times now in the league with 25 goals conceded as well.
As for Wolves, they sit 19th and remain in the relegation zone ahead of this one with just three victories in the league. In fact, with 10 goals scored, they are the lowest-scoring side in the league so far. Forebet predicts a win for Villa and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
