Liverpool looking for ninth straight win at Selhurst Park

Liverpool head to Selhurst Park on Saturday night to face off with Crystal Palace. The Reds are on a two-match Premier League winning streak with back-to-back games versus Everton and Newcastle ending with identical 2-0 scores.

Crystal Palace are struggling and despite being in 12th place after 23 games, could be relegated at the end of the season. Palace are only six points above the relegation zone.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are eighth in the standings and seven points off the top four with a game in hand. A win over Crystal Palace would put pressure on fourth-place Tottenham Hotspur, who face Chelsea on Sunday.

The Reds are coming off a humiliating 5-2 loss to Real Madrid at Anfield in the Champions League last-16 first leg on Tuesday. Liverpool led 2-0 in the first half but fell apart and conceded five times without reply.

Liverpool are unbeaten in six straight matches in all competitions versus Palace. The reverse fixture at Anfield played in August saw Wilfried Zaha open the scoring for Crystal Palace. Darwin Nunez was then sent off for head-butting defender Joachim Andersen.

Despite playing with 10 men, Liverpool came back to draw the match 1-1 thanks to a goal from Luis Diaz. Like so many of Liverpool’s matches this season, the team simply couldn’t find the goals needed late in the match.

Liverpool have been poor away from Anfield with a record of 3W-2D-6L and a goal difference of –6. However, last weekend, Liverpool went to Newcastle and dominated the match, winning 2-0.

Palace took four points from the last six matches in the league. Only four goals were conceded by the Eagles. Crystal Palace have lost eight straight games to Liverpool at Selhurst Park. Their record against the Reds is poor and could get worse this weekend.

The Eagles are winless in five straight home matches in the Premier League. Three consecutive home matches at Selhurst Park ended in draws.

Patrick Vieira has a major injury blow as Zaha won’t play due to a thigh injury. James Tomkins, Nathan Ferguson, and Sam Johnstone are all three ruled out as well. James Ward and Tyrick Mitchell are both in line to return from injuries.

Jurgen Klopp will hope Darwin Nunez’s form can continue. He scored in each of his last two games in all competitions. Klopp won’t have the services of Thiago, Diaz, Calvin Ramsay, or Arthur Melo. Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate could be passed fit to play.

Liverpool are on an eight-match win streak at Selhurst Park. The Reds should pull off another victory over Palace with the game ending 2-1. Liverpool scored two goals exactly in their last three matches in all competitions.
