London rivals Crystal Palace and Fulham will meet at Selhurst Park on Saturday. The London clubs are side-by-side in the Premier League standings after five matches.
Both clubs go into matchday No. 6 on seven points.
Crystal Palace won just one of their last four Premier League games. After sitting in the driver’s seat against Aston Villa a week ago, the Eagles fell 3-1 thanks to a late comeback from the home team. A controversial penalty helped lead to the defeat.
Fulham, on the other hand, ended a three-match winless streak with a victory over Luton Town 1-0 at Craven Cottage.
The Cottagers have struggled to score goals this season without striker Aleksander Mitrovic, who left London for Saudi Arabia in the summer.
Marco Silva’s team were guilty of conceding goals in their opening five matches. Despite a 1-0 win over Luton Town, Fulham conceded 10 goals in the previous four fixtures.
Crystal Palace are once again one of the league’s lowest-scoring teams. Like Fulham, goals were difficult to come by in the opening part of the season. The Eagles tallied six goals in five matches.
Fulham did the double over Crystal Palace in 2022-23. A 3-0 win at Selhurst Park was followed by a 2-2 draw at Craven Cottage later in the campaign.
These teams combined four 14 goals in their last six Premier League encounters.
Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace could be without up to six players. Forward Michael Olise remains sidelined with a thigh injury.
He is expected to miss out until late October. Matheus Franca de Oliveira is out with a back injury.
Also sidelined for the match are Jefferson Lerma and James Tomkins. There could be good news for Marc Guehl and Jordan Ayew. Both are slowly returning to fitness and could play a part.
Palace striker Odsonne Edouard is second in the Premier League in scoring.
The former Celtic player has four goals. He contributed 67% of Crystal Palace’s scoring in the opening five games.
Silva will be without Oluwatosin Adarabioyo due to a muscle problem. Sasa Lukic is unlikely to play following a knee injury.
Antonee Robinson is also ruled out after suffering a knee injury. Fulham lead the league in aggression with 14 yellow cards and two red cards.
Palace and Fulham should once again combine for over 2.5 goals. The match should finish 2-2 at Selhurst Park, as the teams share the spoils.
