West Ham United will welcome Newcastle United to the London Stadium after a sensational few weeks sees the Magpies head into this fixture with about as much confidence as any team across Europe right now.

Newcastle were back in action in the Champions League in midweek and for what was their first home game in the competition for over 20 years, the club put on record arguably their greatest-ever win amongst Europe’s elite.

A 4-1 battering over the French champions Paris Saint-Germain didn’t just send out a message to the rest of the continent, but with Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan drawing, they also catapulted themselves to the top of the group.

Miguel Almiron managed to score in the first half that day before lifelong Newcastle fan, Dan Burn, thumped in a second with his head.

Sean Longstaff would add another in the second half, as another local lad got amongst the goals, before Fabian Schar curled in arguably the goal of the Champions League so far from distance.

Elsewhere for Eddie Howe’s men, the past month has also seen them stun Manchester City with a 1-0 win at home in the EFL Cup, which saw the Magpies become just the second team in the Pep Guardiola reign to knock City out in the second round.

Better yet, Howe’s side also put together their greatest-ever away performance when they smashed Sheffield United at Bramall Lane 8-0, but quite magically, there were eight different goalscorers that day for Newcastle.

West Ham themselves were in European group action, and with another victory in the Europa League, their sensational form across Europe these past two years has continued. What’s more, they are looking a threat in the Premier League too.

The Hammers managed to beat the impressive Bundesliga side Freiburg during the Europa League games on Thursday, and they now sit top of that group after also defeating Backa Topola 3-1 on matchday one.

Couple this with a spot in seventh in the league and a EFL Cup round of 16 matchup to come with Arsenal, and David Moyes can confidently say this has been the best start to a season at West Ham.

The only losses so far for West Ham have seen them lose to sides in the top four, as they suffered defeats to Liverpool and Manchester City.

They have, however, managed to put together four other wins, but Forebet predicts them to lose here and see over 2.5 goals in the game.
