Just three points separate Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford in the Premier League table ahead of Wednesday’s clash at the Amex.
While the Seagulls find themselves eighth – seven points shy of the top four – the Bees have climbed to 11th place thanks to a run of improved results.
Brighton have lost just one of their four meetings with Brentford since the Bees gained promotion. Can the hosts extend their hot streak on Wednesday?
Roberto De Zerbi’s side suffered a 3-2 defeat against Chelsea on Sunday, despite playing the entirety of the second half against 10 men following Conor Gallagher’s red card.
As a result, Brighton have managed to win just one of their previous eight Premier League games, recording four draws and three losses in that time.
Although the Seagulls boast the fifth-best offensive record in the division, only three teams have conceded more goals this season.
It is also worth noting that both teams have scored in each of Brighton’s previous 18 league games, meaning they have a 100% BTTS ratio in 2023-24.
Meanwhile, Brentford claimed a 3-1 victory over Luton Town last time out, racking up 69% possession and 27 shots in the process.
The Bees have now won four of their previous six Premier League matches, scoring 11 goals in the process.
That said, Thomas Frank’s side have been inconsistent on the road this term, recording two wins, one draw and three losses away from home in the league.
Having won just one of their previous six away games across all competitions, Brentford will struggle to claim all three points at the Amex.
Head-to-head: Brighton have lost only one of their last five matches against Brentford, recording two wins and two draws along the way.
Given that six of the past seven encounters have produced over 1.5 goals, Wednesday’s clash isn’t likely to be a low-scoring affair.
Team news: Brighton’s injury list contains Pervis Estupinan, Tariq Lamptey, Ansu Fati, Julio Enciso, Danny Welbeck, Adam Webster and Solly March, while Lewis Dunk and Mahmoud Dahoud are suspended.
As for Brentford, Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey, Kevin Schade, Nathan Collins, Mikkel Damsgaard, Mathias Jensen, Kristoffer Ajer, Christian Norgaard and Josh Dasilva are sidelined through injury.
While Brighton have avoided defeat in eight of their last nine home league games, Brentford have managed to win just one of their previous six away outings.
With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Brighton will claim all three points on Wednesday, scoring over 1.5 goals while keeping a clean sheet.
