One of the biggest games of the weekend in the English Premier League takes place on Sunday afternoon as Arsenal meet Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium.

The hosts begin the weekend in 10th place on 34 points while the visitors are top of the table with 56 points to their name.

Arsenal come into the match having defeated Leeds United 4-2 in the Premier League last weekend. The Gunners were cruising at half time as they opened a 3-0 lead and added a further goal in the opening stages of the second half. However, Leeds United did not give up and pulled two goals back and could have added at least another goal before the final whistle.

It was an important result for Arsenal who ended a run of 3 games without a victory. They were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Manchester United before losing 2-1 at Wolverhampton Wanderers and 1-0 at Aston Villa.

Arsenal have been difficult to beat at home in recent weeks and they are currently on a 6 match unbeaten run in all competitions. There have been 4 victories, 3 of which have come in the Premier League against Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Leeds United.

Trends show Arsenal are undefeated in their last 6 home Premier League games in a row and have kept 3 clean sheets in their last 4 home league matches.

Manchester City travel to London having recorded a 3-1 victory at Everton on Wednesday night. That result saw them open a 10 point gap at the top of the Premier League and Pep Guardiola’s team are now the clear favourites to win the title this season. Manchester City were forced to work hard for their win at Goodison Park and the score was 1-1 at half-time. However, two excellent goals in the second half were enough to seal maximum points.

That result means Manchester City are undefeated in 33 of their last 34 games in all competitions and have won 17 consecutive matches. That includes each of their last 12 Premier League games, which is a tremendous record.

Trends show Manchester City have scored at least one goal in their 18 most recent clashes in all competitions. There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 4 of their last 5 away Premier League fixtures and both teams have scored in 3 of their last 5 on the road.

Team news and Arsenal are likely to be without central midfielder Thomas Partey, who has a muscle injury. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is set to continue as the central striker.

Manchester City have doubts over the fitness of Ilkay Gündogan and Nathan Aké is unlikely to be available. Kevin De Bruyne could return to the starting XI and there may be a place for Riyad Mahrez after his goal in mid-week.

This has the makings of being one of the most entertaining games in the Premier League this season and we expect to see over 2.5 goals and both teams scoring. Considering the fantastic form of Manchester City, they must be the favourites to take maximum points.
