Will Switzerland All But Confirm a Knockout Place and Practically Send the Scots Home?

Scotland aim to quickly turn things around after their dismal defeat to Germany on opening night, and Forebet has grouped together the latest stats, trends, mathematics and analysis for their battle with Switzerland.

The Scots were thrashed by the host nation Germany on Friday, in what was the first game at these Euro 2024 finals.

It was both a combination of Scotland looking exceptionally poor and Germany looking excellent.

However, from the first whistle, Scotland were second best to almost everything. Florian Wirtz got the ball rolling at these finals with a fantastic finish that narrowly got past Angus Gunn in the Scottish net.

Jamal Musiala made it two shortly after, and it was already looking like being a tough night for the Scots after just 20 minutes.

Kai Havertz added to the Scotland woes in the first half with a goal from the penalty spot that needed VAR to decide whether or not it was inside or outside of the box.

Niclas Fullkrug soon scored arguably the goal of the tournament in what was a sensational bit of build up play from Germany.

The game also turned further in the favour of the host nation when Ryan Porteous was sent off just minutes into the second half. Emre Can came on late too, and scored the fifth goal for Germany, as Antonio Rudiger netted the only goal for Scotland in an own goal.

As it was an own goal that sealed the sole goal for Scotland, this also meant Steve Clarke’s men had no shots on target in that game and only one effort in general. Germany, on the other hand, had 20 shots and 10 of which hit the target.

Switzerland themselves impressed against an underwhelming Hungary in the other Group A fixture.

Kwadwo Duah scored the opening goal after 12 minutes with an excellent finish that needed VAR just to see whether or not he was onside or not. The striker's finish was his first for his country as well.

Michel Aebischer was also amongst the goals early on in the second half for Switzerland before a finish from Hungary's Barnabas Varga. Breel Embolo got another goal in his solid career for the Swiss, as he scored minutes after coming on and deep into injury time.

It’s set to be the biggest game of this group in some ways, as Scotland can either revitalise their campaign, or Switzerland can all but guarantee progression into the next round.

Forebet now predicrts a win for Switzerland and over 2.5 goals
